PET INSURANCE
Although pet insurance is readily available, it is under utilized.
There are a lot of factors that determine if a pet insurance policy is any good.
Every so often I review the different available pet insurances and I pick what I believe to be the best option. Pet insurance should not be for routine care. It's not worth the cost. What pets and owners need is money when crap gets real.
They need money for the unexpected. No person that comes to the ER, says "yes, I was expecting this and I am prepared."
I use the insurance I pick with my own pets so that I can see how good it is.
There are so many options now. I have outlined the plan specifics that you should look for:
Unlimited Annual Coverage
$250 or $500 Deductible
90% Reimbursement
Core Benefits:
-
Accidents, Illnesses, Cancer, Hereditary Conditions, Surgeries
-
Emergency Care
-
Take-Home Prescriptions
-
Accident & Illness Exam Fees
How most of these insurances work is that you have to pay your vet up front and then you will be reimbursed within a few weeks.
So you should have $8000 in credit available you at all times in case the unexpected trip to the ER happens.
